What do we do?

For an organisation to be effective it needs to align what it does with what it says it was set up to do.  Even Crown agencies have been established to achieve an outcome for their primary stakeholder, the Crown.  The owner of a business, whether it be the Crown, shareholders, directors, or Board members all share one thing in common, they want it to do, or produce something.

In the case of some businesses the "doing or production" is a sufficient end in itself, (Charitable Organsiations are an example) for others there is an expectation that as the result of "doing something, or producing something" there will also be a profit made which will be returned to the "owners".

The alignment of what is expected as an outcome of the business activities and what the business actually does if therefore critical.

For this reason work with orgnisations at two levels. The first is with the Governing Body who we help articulate what their expectations of the business are.  We do this by helping them define  their shared values as an observable set of behaviours then use these to develop their strategic plan (which we prefer to refer to as a dream as it is much more exciting for people to engage with a dream than it is with a "strategic plan" BORING).  The values are important because these define the real culture of the organisation and culture drives how things are done.  This usually collimates in policies for the governance body plus a code of conduct and conflict of interest policy to inform their work.

The second area where we can add value is the development of your "operational" policies. These include People Policies (Human Resources), Finance, Administration, and Service Delivery Policies. We also assist with recruitment and when necessary, the disengagement (termination) processes.

How do we do this?

The key underlying philosophy which informs all of our work is that the client (that's you) needs to discover both what the issues they face are, and what options they have for addressing them. This is from the Board down to people working at the delivery end of the business.

The main reason for this is that you know your business. Also if you discover the issues, and the solutions to them, then you are going to put effort into making any intervention a successes. That may not be the case if we try to sell you our "off the shelf" solution, to a problem you did not even know you had.

Why you should talk to us.

We know our business. We have been around for a long time now and there are not that many surprises left for us. You therefore get the benefit of our experience which usually means a very quick intervention and outcome, which in turn means reasonable costs to you.

We provide a variety of options to clients to engage with us. For example we can be your People Services HR Manager and host all of your policies and forms etc on a dedicated and branded site of your own. Your staff would have access through a password protected portal. The advantage to you is that we keep your policies up to date as the laws change, and so when (and I am sorry it is "when", not "if") one of your people decides that they would like to play by different rules, you can be sure that if you apply your policies, you will likely survive a legal challenge mounted by that individual when you try to explain to them the error of their ways.
